ABOUT

Dr. Keri Marcovici, Ph.D.

Helping you find joy in reconnecting to yourself and in your relationships

My Story

Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist I completed my Master of Public Health (MPH) at Columbia University, in Forced Migration and Health, and then worked with communities, domestically and internationally, during or in the aftermath of a traumatic event such as war and tsunami. I was drawn to this work in part because of my family's history of migration. My experience offering healing, psychosocial programs to help others, allowed my reconnection to the visceral understanding of resilience we all have. This embodied knowing continues to inform my work and all aspects of my life, everyday.

MY APPROACH

I am trained in cutting-edge and effective treatments and integrate my expertise to tailor them to each person, dyad, couple and family.  I weave modalities together in experiential somatic therapy. Scientific evidence and ancient knowledge has proven that healing happens when we are in connection with our body and breath. As we find ways to narrate and make meaning of our story with words, we also notice/attune to what it feels like within our body. This approach hones in on the moment-to-moment awareness of embodied experiences because this is precisely when the brain change has the greatest impact. As our subcortical and implicit memory systems are activated through experiential therapy they in turn activate the neural networks which can allow us to thoughtfully guide you into the changes for which you long.

Most importantly transformation and healing occurs when we feel compassion. I provide a space full of compassion and help you nurture that within.
